Introduction
The Thames Valley Community Risk Register consists of a table of hazards summarising hazard information, outcome descriptions, risk rating and mitigation plans. More information on each hazard can be accessed through the links provided.
The information in the Community Risk Register has been compiled in accordance with Emergency Preparedness, the statutory guidance to the Civil Contingency Act 2004. A complete copy of the guidance can be found at www.ukresilience.gov.uk. For ease of reference key parts of the guidance on the risk rating process have been reproduced here.

Each hazard is allocated a unique descriptor, comprising a letter (or letters) and a number. The letters indicate the scale of response the hazard may generate, as follows;
| H |
– hazards which will require a national as well as a local response. |
| HL |
– hazards which would not ordinarily prompt a national response and would usually be dealt with locally. |
| L |
– hazards which have been locally defined by the Thames Valley Local Resilience Forum. |
